The Tension, the Heartbreak, the Obsession: Fourth Wing Review and Expected Cast
SPOILERS AHEAD!
I just finished Fourth Wing, and I am absolutely obsessed. Like, I cannot stop thinking about it. Xaden Riorson has completely taken over my brain. His character, his presence, the tension? PERFECTION.
And speaking of tension, the slow burn was REAL. I had to wait thirty something chapters for that first kiss, and the build-up was excruciating in the best way possible. The stolen glances, the banter, the mutual respect, the undeniable pull- it was everything. Rebecca Yarros really delivered on the anticipation, and when it finally happened? Literal fireworks. (or lightning lol)
But also… I am devastated over Liam. I knew I shouldn’t have gotten attached, but I did, and now my heart is shattered. I just wanted him to be okay and I honestly think he deserved more. I’m going to be mourning for a while.
Now, onto the Fourth Wing adaptation news. Amazon Prime Video has picked it up, and I genuinely don’t know how to feel about it. On one hand, I’m excited because I want to see this world come to life, but on the other hand… live-action adaptations rarely capture the magic of books like this. I feel like an animated series would be a much better fit because the visuals of the dragons and the action scenes need to be absolutely stunning. Plus, Xaden just looks TOO perfect in my mind. I don’t think any actor could truly embody the way he’s been described or at least not in a way that does him justice. Have you seen the fan art? He’s unreal.

There’s been speculation about casting, and while I think Josh Heuston is handsome, I personally see him more as Bodhi.
There’s also talk that Emilio Sakraya might play Xaden, which I also have some reservations about.
But honestly, if I had to pick, I’d say the closest match I’ve seen is this model, Ariyan Akaltun. He just has the right vibe! Obviously, nothing is confirmed yet, but I’ll be anxiously waiting for more news.
